Planting On Ground - My IBT Fig

Planting on the ground has a lot of advantages. You do not worry about too much water, as the drainage is better.

The Green Jordan that was planted 10 Sept 2016
After the planting, it rained heavily for 2 days, so was worried that the new plant will be flooded.

So I devised a method to cover it. This was why the plastic sheet appeared over the seedling.

The cover and I hope the wind is not too strong to blow it away

Planting My Fig on Ground

I have decided to move some of my plant to ground. This is because, planting on ground will grow  a bigger tree, reduce the chance of water stagnation.

So on 6 Aug 2016, I moved 2 trees, mikael and BTM6 from pots to ground.

The fig trees are placed beneath shades of palm branches

The Lemon Grass

About Lemon Grass

Planting On Commercial Scale:
There are many suggested methods of planting the lemongrass. These
are some of the methods:
a. plants the grass in rows, 4 feet between rows. On each row, the distant
is 3 feet. This is sometime known as 4x3 planting.

b. On each spot, you can plant 1 seedling . 3, or 5. It depends on you situation, if the seedling is costly, then plant 1, if you are doing a replanting where you have many free seedlings, then put 5. You can plant in 2 holes or 3, but not too many in 1 hole.
If you put only 1 seedling, then you have to replace it within 2 weeks, if the seed dies.

Some Locations, It does grow well
.

. After a month: Fertize it

My Air Layered Fig - MD1 AB

I had reproduced the MD fig tree by the process of airlayer.

This was the plant that I bought on 18 may 2016.

So far I had made 2 seedlings, I called it  by the alphabets A and B. So the new seedling is MD1 A. MD1 is the parent. If I were to buy another MD tree, it is called MD2.

This is the second seedling...

My New Interest in Fig Tree

I had revived my interest in tropical farming. This time it will be in home farming, that mean I am planting fig tree around my home only.

In my last entry, I talk about the first tree is fruiting fter only 4 months. The price of fresh fig fruits is too expensive in Malaysia. The seedling is worst still.

The high price can be deterrent, and at the same time it can be s motivation, depending on which side you are on.

Here are some of the plants that I am starting to grow...

Malaysian Herbal

In the older days, when the modern medicine was not available, the people relied on nature to cure themselves. This is where the herbs played their roles

If you were to go to the Herbal Botanical Garden in Shah Alam, you will be able to see some of the Odd names of the Malaysian Herbal. One of which is the Haba Neraka, directly translated as the Hell Fire.

Dalit Durian Sells in Sabah

The Dalit Durian is new to me.
I am more familiar with the peninsular variety. The wild during is not cultivated, but grow in the wild naturally. It is known as durian daun, because the fruits bear at the twigs and surrounded by the leaves. The cultivated varieties fruit on the branches.

Looking at the price, it seem to be interesting. At rm25 per kilo, it is a money maker. The other common variety is the kampong version, selling at about rm15 to rm20 per kilo. This durian is cultivated in a smaller plots, thus the supply is lower.
